Proverbs 11:24-25 – Generosity Leads to Abundance

Proverbs 11:24-25 – Generosity Leads to Abundance

Generosity

There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

Proverbs 11:24-25

Thought For Today

The person who “scatters” or gives, increases even more. Like casting the seed across the field yields an abundance of corn, God blesses generosity by increasing what we have. He replenishes our supply through our acts of giving. But, when we hold on to everything and store it for ourselves, we miss the point of God’s provision and the joy that comes through generosity. He says, “He who waters will also be watered himself.”

Through faith-filled giving, God promises to return the blessing by providing more.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Friendship: A Threefold Cord Is Hard To Break

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Friendship: A Threefold Cord Is Hard To Break

Friendship

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Eccesiastes 4:9-12

Thought For Today

In Ecclesiastes, Solomon continues his life-changing message, living for this world leaves us empty. He nails it down by revealing two life choices that lead to very different results.

The selfish life is a wasted life. The person who lives for himself and chooses work, success, and riches over relationships leads to emptiness.

Eccl. 4:8, There is one alone, without companion: He has neither son nor brother. Yet there is no end to all his labors, Nor is his eye satisfied with riches. But he never asks, “For whom do I toil and deprive myself of good?” A vain life and a grave misfortune.

The sociable life is a cure for emptiness. Choosing friendship, and investing in relationships bring many advantages. Strength, companionship, and resilience come to those who choose relationships as a priority. A threefold cord is hard to break.

Spiritual Discipline – Meditation

Spiritual Discipline – Meditation

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8

I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. Psalm 119:15

Thought for Today

When we approach the scripture with meditation, contemplation, and observation, it leads to actions that bring positive results.

In this path, we will have good success.

Psalm 1:2, But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

Thought For Today

Choices, decisions, and change require extra thought. We think, we ponder, and we even obsess over big decisions. Shopping for a car, looking for a new job, pursuing new friendships, and looking for new clothes can temporarily fill our mind so full, it’s as if we are obsessed with the process of deciding.

What is happening to us? We are merely experiencing the impact of “meditating.” God gave us a powerful mind, and He knows the transforming effect meditation has on us.

He told us to “meditate on the word” day and night. What if we did? But, here’s the problem and I think a key reason we don’t do well meditating on the word. We over-complicate it. Why not take a key verse or a few key verses on a topic you are interested in and meditate on those verses each morning and night for a week? Write them on a note card, save them on your phone, or find some way to review them morning and night. Ponder their meaning, pray for God to reveal their deeper truths and pass along to a friend what you are learning.

Experience the power of Psalm 1:2 by meditating on His word day and night.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – God Gives Comfort

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – God Gives Comfort

This Week’s Theme – When You Need Comfort

November 5, 2018

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Thought For Today

God isn’t just a God who can comfort; He is THE God of all comfort. He comforts us in every way possible and any situation. After we experience the comfort God provides, we get to pay it forward and comfort others with the comfort we’ve received.

Prayerfully consider who you might be able to offer encouragement to this week.

Hebrews 11:6 – Answered Prayers – Diligently Seek Him

Hebrews 11:6 – Answered Prayers – Diligently Seek Him

This Week’s Theme – Answered Prayers

November 2, 2018

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6

Thought For Today

Does your faith look like this? Your day involves an awareness of God in all things. You see His fingerprints on your life. Difficult circumstances eventually lead you to an understanding that even in trials, God is still there and He is powerfully working to grow you and enlarge your ministry to others.

Today’s verse reminds us that it is with “this kind of faith” we find ourselves in a place to see God’s hand in our life, receive answers to prayer and experience His blessings.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
