August – Week 2 – Asking God

High Impact Living – Weekly Devotional – August 1st Week

Monday: Ask, Seek, Knock

Scripture – Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

Thought For Today
If you want to be rich in God’s grace, become like a beggar in your habits of asking. Ask Him.Ask for the things you need. Ask for guidance like a lost traveler, ask for the provisions like a poor beggar, ask for wisdom like the person who is clueless about what to do next.Seek Him as if you were seeking for a lost treasure.
Knock on His door as a person who needs to talk to his best friend.Ask, seek, and knock.

Tuesday: Ask With A Believing Heart

Scripture –  And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. Matthew 21:22

Thought For Today

One of the principal duties of a true believer in Christ is to pray. Our prayers should be combined with faith. Think of these two words and begin to develop them as part of the DNA of your spiritual walk, prayer, and faith.

Wednesday: Ask God For Wisdom

Scripture – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Thought For Today
When you are facing trying times, and you need help, ask God for wisdom. Sometimes God delivers His own from difficulties, but He often uses these trials for deep purposes in our life. Feel free to pray for deliverance but try this too. Ask Him for wisdom in trials. Seek to understand all the things you can learn from the experience you are facing today. And remember, when you need wisdom you should first go to the source of all wisdom, and He is waiting to pass out wisdom liberally.

Thursday: Jesus Said To Ask For Anything

Scripture – And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:13-14

Thought For Today
If you were preparing to say goodbye to a close friend they may ask, “What is the best way to stay in touch with you?” Jesus was speaking to his disciples before going back to heaven, and He established the process for correspondence to continue. He didn’t say to write Him a letter, He said you could reach Him through prayer. And in prayer, He said you could ask for anything. Ask for anything that will further His purposes in your life, anything that will advance the gospel, and anything that will glorify God.

Friday: Ask God With Confidence

Scripture – Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. I John 5:14-15

Thought For Today
God wants us to ask Him for the things we need, and He wants us to come with confidence. If we know He hears all our requests; then we should also know He desires to fulfill all our needs according to His divine will for us. So ask, with confidence, believing He will answer according to His perfect plan.

Philippians 4:6

Thought For Today

Worry can overcome you in times of need if you allow it. Try this instead. Don’t worry but pray and ask God to meet your needs. Begin focusing each day on things to thank Him for that He has done for you and ways He has already provided. Be bold in bringing your needs to Him in prayer but continue to focus more on HIs power and provision and less on the problems of life.

Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

Proverbs 12:22

Lying lips are an abomination to God because they tear apart human society. God delights in the truth. Living truthfully makes you a person people want to know. Be truthful in your words, actions, work, and motives not only brings delight to God, but it also brings opportunities to influence and impact people around you for God’s Kingdom.

God promises when we call upon Him, He is always near. He doesn’t keep us at a distance. He remains close to us and ready to answer when we call. When we call upon Him, we are to approach Him with a heart living in truth. Our inward impressions should match our outward expressions of devotion.

He will guide our words to the truth, our actions to truth and our beliefs to the truth. Not only does He show us the truth but He carries us through a process of understanding all truth. He reveals the complete and ultimate truth to us.

This Week’s Theme: Truth

July 31, 2018

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:32

Thought For Today

The Christian life is a journey to learn more and more about God. “You shall know the truth” implies that you should always be in a pursuit to know more of God’s truth and understand His ways. The pursuit of God’s truth will set you free. Free from the bondage of sin, free from prejudices, free from the bondage of the law, free from lust and passions, free from making so many life mistakes and free to enjoy fellowship with God and victory in Him.
