This Week’s Theme: Faith That Works – by Ken Turner, June 28, 2018
Colossians 1:10
That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Thought for today…
The goal is to “fully please God” and be “fruitful in every good work.” Too often we are satisfied with “partially pleasing God” and being “fruitful in some of our good works.” What is keeping you from going all in with your commitment to Him? Here’s a suggestion. The third part of today’s verse may give the missing piece in your spiritual progress. Continue to “increase in the knowledge of God.” Get into the word and see how much more you desire to be fully committed to Him.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Thought for today…
God transforms the lives of those who place their faith in Him through Christ. He continues to shape His children for the work. He has purposed them to do. You were “handmade” by God, gifted and skilled for specific works. Are you pursuing His will and following His plan for you?

James 2:18, 20
But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Thought for today…
Jesus made clear this truth about our faith and our works. Our Salvation in Christ is not faith “by” works, but it is faith “that” works. Your faith in Christ should have changed you, and it should be continually changing you into His image.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Thought for today…
You’ve heard that “Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.” Both parts of this statement are correct. God looks at the heart. But man looks at our works and actions. Those among us are looking at believers every day to see if Christ has the power to change our lives. Let’s live out our faith, so others see that Christ makes all the difference.

This Week’s Theme: Maturity – by Ken Turner, June 22, 2018
James 1:22-25
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
Thought for today…
Want to be blessed in all you are doing today? Start “doing the Word.” It’s easy to hear the scripture and agree with it and move on. But the real impact comes when a person hears (or reads) the Bible, ponders its message, decides how it applies and moves forward putting it into action. Don’t be a hearer without being a doer.

Hebrews 5:12-13
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
Thought for today…
True or false? You should be teaching the Bible by now. Are you are still consuming the milk of the word or have you moved on to bread and meat? It’s easy to find many living in the misery of “unskilled in the word” Christians. Today’s passage says, “You ought to be teaching the word by now, but you still need someone to teach you.” Get started, once and for all, mastering the scripture. How do you start? Begin by reading it daily… even a few verses each day will make a big difference. Use Bible apps like Just1Word, Blue Letter Bible, Bible Gateway, and listen to sermons at One Place. You’ll be on your way to learning the word.
