Psalm 4:4 – Stand In Awe of God and Be Still

Psalm 4:4 – Stand In Awe of God and Be Still

This Week’s Theme: Be Still

July 18, 2018

“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

Psalm 4:4

Thought For Today

One way to overcome the temptation to live in sin and yield to the flesh is to take time to stand in awe of God and be still. Do you struggle at times with the question, “Is it worth it to follow God?” You are not alone. Satan is as much a distractor as he is a deceiver. He will continue to distract you from an awareness of the awe of the God of the universe, the creator of all things, the provider of your salvation. To keep a heart warm toward God, follow the instructions of today’s verse by standing in awe of God, sin not, and commune with your own heart on your bed by meditating on the greatness of God.

I pray for God’s awesome presence in your life today.

Psalm 46:10 – Be Still and Know God

Psalm 46:10 – Be Still and Know God

This Week’s Theme: Be Still – by Ken Turner, July 16, 2018

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Thought for today…

Don’t just be still, be still and know.
Be still and know He is God.
Be still and know He is your God.
Be still and know He is your loving God.
Be still and know He is your refuge.
Be still and know He will provide.
Be still and know He will never leave you or forsake you.
Be still and know He is real and this is true.
Be still and know.
Be still.

Psalm 71:3 – When You Always Resort To God As Your Refuge

Psalm 71:3 – When You Always Resort To God As Your Refuge

This Week’s Theme: God Is Our Refuge – by Ken Turner, July 13, 2018

Psalm 71:3

Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.

Thought for today…

People are creatures of habit. We make choices, and those choices become habits in our life. Think of the statement, “He always resorts to ___________.”

If someone made the above statement about you, what would they put in the blank? “You always resort to_____________________.”

Anger, blaming others, complaining, excuses, drugs, alcohol, sexual sin, quitting, running away from a problem, etc.

What if you changed and people could say, “You always resort to God as your refuge and strength.”

Psalm 62:8 – Pour Out Your Heart To God

Psalm 62:8 – Pour Out Your Heart To God

This Week’s Theme: God Is Our Refuge – by Ken Turner, July 12, 2018

Psalm 62:8

Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

Thought for today…

When you rely on God as your refuge, two things will become part of your relationship. First, you will trust Him at all times in all situations and second, you will pour out your heart to Him because He is your refuge.

Psalm 59:16 – Our Refuge In The Day of Trouble

Psalm 59:16 – Our Refuge In The Day of Trouble

This Week’s Theme: God Is Our Refuge – by Ken Turner, July 11, 2018

Psalm 59:16

But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble.

Thought for today…

When you rely on God as your defense in times of trouble, He will put a song of joy in your heart. Your heart will turn from sadness to singing, and your perspective will shift from defeated to victorious.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

In difficulty, God is my storm shelter, He is where I get my strength, and He is the source I turn to for all the help I need.
