Indiana Warriors Football Team vs. Army

On Wednesday, September 9, 2009 the Indiana Warriors will compete against the Army in an exhibition game at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center in Indianapolis. Honor level teen residents will be allowed to participate in the game as well.

The event is connected to a new initiative bringing in men affiliated with the Warriors football team and local members of the US Army as members of our Mentor Outreach Team to troubled youth. We thank theses heros in our community who are stepping up to join our mentor outreach team.

Recently I asked a group of teenage boys I work with at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center to write a paragraph on the topic, “Why I Would Like To Have A Mentor In My Life.” Following are some of their answers.

Okay… let me explain. Each month in my ministry at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center I do training for our Mentor Outreach Team. Last week seven adults from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service came for Mentor Outreach Training. So, I was honored to “Train the Military” to “Be All They Can Be” as new members of our Mentor Outreach Team. I am very impressed by the quality of these adults and know they will be a great asset to our team.
